About Hypandra
- Build questions that help you think.
- Find questions worth exploring.
- Share curiosity with others.
What is Hypandra?
Hypandra takes your questions and wonders as input, then offers reflections and questions in response. The questions from Hypandra are designed to surface, expand, and deepen your curiosity. It's not a search engine or answer engine - it's something else: a curiosity engine that keeps you thinking.
Why was Hypandra created?
Hypandra was created to help people ask better questions. Most search engines and AI systems are currently designed and mostly used to simply answer questions, terminating or extinguishing curiosity. The purpose of Hypandra is to support people in avoiding easy answers. Hypandra exists to help people rediscover and pursue their own curiosity.
Hypandra is designed as a strategic human-centered intervention in the ecosystem of search and AI. It is a complement to traditional search engines and AI systems. Hypandra is not a replacement for existing search and AI systems, but rather a tool to extend their capabilities. Instead of providing a list of search results or answers itself, Hypandra is designed to help people launch their reformulated queries on dozens of alternative engines and AI systems. The reflections and alternative questions that Hypandra provides are also meant to challenge those tools and creators on the web, probing in areas where there might not yet be any published exploration. The variety of alternative resources that Hypandra links to is also intended to expand searcher perspectives beyond the dominant sources of information.
Hypandra Labs also provides curiosity games and tools to help people expand and share their curiosity.
Principles
- Trustworthy: We earn your confidence through clear practices — explaining our purpose, foundations, and limitations, while protecting your privacy and respecting your curiosity.
- Dialogue: We invite your voice into the conversation — making it easy to challenge our suggestions, explore different perspectives, and share your own insights or questions with others.
- Wonder: We embrace questions without demanding answers — cultivating curiosity as a practice and helping you rediscover the joy of learning, while acknowledging the hope and discomfort in uncertainty.
Who is Hypandra for?
For students
Hypandra helps students think for themselves by turning half-formed hunches into researchable questions and surfacing overlooked angles. Making new connections accessible enhances motivation and builds confidence. It provides scaffolding for the learning process, drawing on lessons from the learning sciences. The result is a habit of inquiry that celebrates curiosity and appreciates admitting when you don't know something.
For teachers
Hypandra helps teachers nurture curiosity-forward classrooms by modeling curiosity and making the process transparent. Use it to design activities where students share their questions, rationales, and explorations. This supports making work visible and easy to build on. It supports feedback, peer review, andsharing search questions while always linking outward to diverse sources for stronger media literacy.
For creators
Hypandra helps people create new content and share new ideas. It surfaces overlooked angles, prompts deeper lines of inquiry, and sends users off-platform to the people who make and share on the web. We favor attribution, linkability, and interconnection so your readers can trace the path, contest it, and build on it.
