Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Hypandra

What makes Hypandra different?

Most AI tools try to automate or augment your thinking. We're building tools that train it. Hypandra doesn't give you answers—it helps you better ask questions worth answering.

How does Hypandra work?

Are You Curiouser? is our flagship game where you craft questions on topics and AI judges score them using a research-curiosity rubric. But every question—whether from the game or one you generate yourself—becomes a card you can work with: Launch it to external tools, Build variations, Explore it through reflections and alternative framings, or save it to Projects for later. Behind the scenes, we use carefully developed and evaluated prompts with leading language models to help you think more clearly and curiously.

Why focus on curiosity specifically?

Curiosity is one of the most important thinking skills—and one of the most neglected. Schools rarely teach it directly. Most tools accidentally suppress it by rewarding quick answers over sustained inquiry. But curiosity is trainable: you can learn to ask questions that open up new territory instead of closing it down. We focus on curiosity specifically because it's both teachable and urgently needed—especially now, when AI makes it easy to stop thinking too soon.

Who founded Hypandra?

Hypandra was started by Daniel Griffin in March 2025. Trevan Hauck joined Daniel as co-founder in September 2025.

Getting Started

Who is Hypandra for?

Anyone who's ever asked 'but why?' and wanted to go deeper. Students, teachers, professionals, lifelong learners—anyone who suspects the best questions haven't been asked yet.

Do I need any AI experience to use Hypandra?

No. Hypandra is designed for curious people, not AI experts. You bring the questions—we've built the platform to help you explore them.

How do I sign up/get started?

Sign up here. You can try Are You Curiouser? Quickplay and Explore without an account.

How much does Hypandra cost?

Hypandra is currently free during our pilot phase. We're focused on building the best curiosity training platform, and early users help us do that.

Are You Curiouser?

What is the Are You Curiouser? game?

It's a game where you compete against AI models to ask the most curious question about a topic. Multiple AI judges score your question on a research-curiosity rubric, and Hypandra gives you feedback to help you ask more curious questions.

How do I improve my curiosity score?

Are You Curiouser? currently uses a research-curiosity rubric with five dimensions: Gap (does it highlight a compelling space between what we know and what we want to know?), Novelty (does it explore new territory?), Mechanism (does it probe underlying principles?), Generativity (does it open up further questions?), and Clarity (is it well-scoped and answerable?). Strong questions here don't just ask what—they dig into how, why, and what if.

How do you ensure the AI judges are fair/accurate?

We use multiple independent AI judges with carefully developed evaluation prompts. Each judge explains its reasoning, so you can see why a question scored the way it did. We're continuously refining our rubrics based on user feedback and evaluation research.

Can I use my own questions in Hypandra?

Yes! While Are You Curiouser? is a great way to practice question-crafting in a structured game format, you can bring any question into Hypandra's curiosity workspace. Use Explore to generate reflections and alternative framings, Build to create variations, Launch to external tools, or save questions to Projects for later.

Do I need to play the game to use the other features?

No. Are You Curiouser? is one way to engage with Hypandra, but you can skip straight to Explore, Build, or Projects with your own questions. The game is designed to help you practice and improve, but the entire curiosity workspace is available whether you play or not.

Working with Questions

What are Projects for?

Projects let you organize and track questions over time. You might build a question library for a research topic, curate inquiry threads for a classroom unit, or collect questions that help you think through a complex problem. Projects turn individual questions into sustained lines of investigation.

What external tools does the Launch feature work with?

You can Launch questions to a wide range of search engines, AI assistants, and research tools—turning Hypandra into a launchpad for deeper investigation. We're always expanding integrations based on what curious people need most.

Currently supported Launch tools: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave, Exa, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude, You.com, Kagi, Mojeek, Andi, Phind, Qwant, Ecosia, Google Scholar, Searx, Swisscows, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Scira, and Ask Pandi. We also have a Random tool that opens a new tab to a random tool from that list.

(If you have a favorite tool or database you'd like to see here, let us know!)

Can I use Hypandra with friends or in groups?

Absolutely. Curiosity is contagious, and some of the best questions emerge in conversation. You can compete on Leaderboards to see who asks the most curious questions, create Challenges with custom prompts for others to tackle, and share Projects to collaborate on sustained lines of inquiry.

Technical & Future

Does Hypandra build or train AI models?

Not yet. We integrate with leading AI models and focus our development on the user experience, question-generation, and curiosity evaluation layer.

What features are coming next?

More question games, collaborative features, tools for classrooms and teams, and ways to track how your questioning evolves over time. We're building an entire ecosystem around making curiosity a practice.
